What Is Perfect Binding?

Perfect Binding is a widely used soft cover bookbinding method. This is a way of binding the pages that the cover are glued together at the spine with thermal glue. After that process, the other three book-sides are then trimmed as needed to give them clean “perfect” edges. This is why it is referred to as “perfect binding”.

When books go through perfect binding, they have a printable spine and the cover is usually made from paper that is heavier than the interior pages.  The cover of the book can also be clear-coated to avoid real damage and improve appearance.

Authors of fiction and non-fiction books have a tendency to use this method of binding because it looks professional and are less costly in bulk. For the very same reasons, businesses and organizations frequently use perfect binding on a variety of projects including manuals, catalogs, and thicker product brochures.

What Are the Benefits to Perfect Binding?

  • A Less Expensive Option
  • Higher Page Count per Book Binding
  • More Durable because of Heavier weight cover
  • The finished product is stackable and is stored easily
  • Professional Appearance
